Château Lafon-Rochet - Saint-Estèphe - Red - 2006 :
Château Lafon-Rochet: A Fourth Growth of Structure and Finesse
A celebrated Quatrième Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, Château Lafon-Rochet is one of Saint-Estèphe's most iconic estates. Its unique terroir, featuring deep gravel and the famed blue clay, yields a claret that masterfully combines the powerful, age-worthy structure of the northern Médoc with a growing aromatic complexity. This is a superb example of classic claret with a modern, sophisticated edge.
Tasting Notes
- Colour: A beautiful deep garnet-purple.
- Nose: Elegant and complex, with core notes of blackcurrant and dark cherry, complemented by cedar, pencil lead, and a touch of sweet spice from oak ageing.
- Palate: Rich, full-bodied, and beautifully structured. The tannins are firm but silky, providing excellent backbone and a foundation for long-term cellaring. The wine maintains a lovely fresh acidity, culminating in a persistent, savoury finish.
