Château de Pressac - Saint-Émilion Grand Cru - Red - 2023 :
The Majestic Heritage of Château de Pressac
Château de Pressac is an illustrious Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, steeped in history. Located on a clay-limestone plateau, the estate is famously the site where the surrender that concluded the Hundred Years' War was signed in 1453. Proprietors Jean-François and Dominique Quenin have masterfully combined this historical legacy with modern winemaking, producing a wine that is both structured and refined.
Tasting Notes & Blend Composition
The blend is primarily Merlot, supported by Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec (or Noir de Pressac), and Carménère. This composition, typical of the finest Right Bank estates, captures the essence of the Saint-Émilion terroir.
- Colour: Deep, vibrant garnet.
- Nose: Richly complex, offering concentrated aromas of dark berry fruit (cassis, black plum), intertwined with notes of mocha, sweet tobacco, and fine cedar from barrel ageing.
- Palate: Full-bodied and elegant, showcasing a rich texture with beautifully polished, silky tannins. The finish is long and persistent, retaining a lovely chalky freshness.
Food Pairing & Service
To best enjoy the depth of this wine, we recommend decanting for up to an hour, particularly for younger vintages. Serve slightly cool to enhance its complexity.
- Serving Temp: 16-18°C.
- Cellar Potential: Built to cellar for many years.
