The Noble Purity of Château Laroque, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé
Château Laroque is a benchmark for quality on the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé list. Situated on the highest limestone plateau in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, this wine is a true expression of its magnificent terroir. Under the meticulous direction of David Suire, Laroque has become known for its elegant style, focusing on freshness, precision, and the noble structure that only great limestone soils can provide.
Tasting Notes
- Colour: Deep, vibrant purple-red.
- Nose: Intense aromas of dark woodland fruits, blackcurrant, and plum, layered with complex notes of cedar, liquorice, and a characteristic chalky minerality.
- Palate: The palate is beautifully poised-powerful yet refined. The fine, velvety tannins are perfectly integrated with the concentrated Merlot fruit, while a refreshing, saline lift carries the flavour through a persistent, distinguished finish. A claret of pedigree.
Food Pairing & Decanting
We recommend decanting this wine for up to two hours when opening a younger vintage. Serve at a cool room temperature (16-18°C).
- Pairing: Loin of Venison, Classic Sunday Roast Beef, Truffled Game Pâté, Mature Stilton Cheese.
- Cellar Potential: Built for the cellar; will develop beautifully over 10 to 20 years.
