CHÂTEAU LE BOSCQ Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel Saint-Estèphe
A true standout in the Médoc, Château Le Boscq is a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel from the northern appellation of Saint-Estèphe. Owned by Dourthe, the estate benefits from a prime position near the Gironde Estuary, where a mix of deep Garonne gravel and clay soils nurtures vines that produce a wine of remarkable structure, finesse, and aging capability.
Tasting Notes
- Colour: A deep, brooding garnet hue.
- Nose: An attractive and complex nose, revealing concentrated aromas of blackcurrant and dark plum, intertwined with elegant spice notes of mocha, cedar, and a subtle touch of vanilla from its 12-14 months of oak maturation.
- Palate: Generous and velvety upon entry. The palate is full-bodied, rich in dark fruit, and beautifully structured. Unlike some of its peers, Le Boscq offers fine, ‘polished’ tannins, making it approachable in youth yet promising excellent longevity. The finish is long, fresh, and refined.
Serving Suggestions
This classic claret is perfect for a Sunday roast or a special occasion. Best served at 16-18°C. For younger vintages, decant for 60-90 minutes to allow the tannins to soften and the aromas to fully develop.
- Pairings: Traditional Roast Beef with all the trimmings, Venison or Game Pie, Mature Hard Cheeses (Stilton, Mature Cheddar).
