A Sophisticated 'Prélude' to a Classified Growth
The Prélude à Grand-Puy Ducasse is the superb second wine from the Fifth Growth Classified estate, Château Grand-Puy Ducasse, located in the prestigious Pauillac appellation. It is produced with the same exacting standards as the Grand Vin, utilizing grapes from younger vines and selected plots to deliver a wine that is both instantly gratifying and unmistakably Pauillac.
Tasting Notes
- Appearance: A brilliant, deep ruby red.
- Aroma: The bouquet is open and inviting, featuring concentrated dark fruit-blackcurrant and plum-layered with subtle notes of fine oak, tobacco leaf, and a touch of graphite.
- Taste: Exhibits a classic Pauillac structure; it is rich, powerful, and dense. However, the 'Prélude' offers smooth, polished tannins, making it remarkably elegant and accessible in its youth. It is a wine of great balance and a persistent, flavourful finish.
Food Match & Serving
This claret is an excellent choice for a Sunday Roast or a fine dinner party. To allow its complex aromas to fully develop, we suggest decanting for an hour and serving at a cellar temperature of 16-17°C.
